Come With Me

I learned a long time ago that, if you're missing somebody, just look up at the night sky. Whoever it is, wherever they are, chances are they're looking at the stars just like you. Sometimes for all its size, the universe isn't such a big place after all."

She said that. I know she said it about Maria; however - it doesn't feel that way at all now. All my feelings now tell me she said it about the Doctor. I can't say a word, I can only see her eyes torn apart. She fights her feelings, fights not to crash onto the floor and cry. I can see it all – she's so broken, broken into dozens of pieces.

"Mum," I call her.

"I'm sorry". She looks at me, confused. She doesn't understand. I know she doesn't understand. But that's okay, she will know what I meant, later. I'm going towards her, wrapping my arms around her waist, hugging her tightly.

Clyde's staring at me and he nods slowly, straightening up to look to the stars.

"It's okay, Sarah Jane," he whispers,

"You know, my mother used to say that adults can cry, it doesn't matter, what age..." he trails off when he hears her giggles.

Clyde turns his head to Sarah Jane and Luke, "Good to hear you laugh," he announces and starts laughing with her.

"Old girl" mutters Sarah Jane to herself,

"I do miss him, boys" she admits, smiling to herself.

She kisses Luke's cheek.

"He was all, you know. He was everything, and he just dropped me off like it was nothing. The things we did and all the things we saw ..." She wipes a single tear that rolls down her cheek.

Luke looks up, into the black sky. He turns to his mother and shakes himself off.

"Mum! Look!" Luke points to the stars. Sarah Jane looks at Luke, confused, miserable, she turns her head to the sky.

"I'm sorry Luke, I think I'm getting older and I can't see, what's there?" Sarah Jane looks at her son's beaming face.

"Mum!" Luke rolls his eyes,

"How can't you see it? A blue box! The Doctor, he's there! Tell me you can-" Luke stops and looks at the front door; there was a knock.

Sarah Jane shakes her head and her feelings too, walking to the front door. When she opens it, she sees no one there but the wind that blows on her face and a letter on the floor. She leans and takes the letter, reading it out loud.

'To Sarah Jane Smith, my Sarah Jane' she says in tears, her whole body shaking and she cannot hide her feelings anymore. She opens the letter while she bites her lower lip, 'Sarah Jane, can you believe it? Oh, my Sarah Jane. It's been a long time since I brought you back and dropped you on your doorstep; perhaps years. You are growing older, so am I. In fact, I am still the same Doctor - just a different face, remember?' She nodded her head in agreement, wiping the tears and breathing shakily.

'Oh, Sarah Jane! You were wonderful, all these years, I don't regret anything! You know I don't, right?' Sarah Jane smiles to herself, laughing sadly. "How can I not know, my Doctor?" She whispers to the letter, hoping he can hear her somehow.

'Sarah Jane, my dear, I can't stop thinking about you every day that passes. You were my life over the years we went along... Please-' Sarah Jane pauses when she hears a voice calling to her, completing the sentence.

"Come with me..." A tall man asks, offering her his hand, "Sarah Jane Smith?"
